Each water quality parameter can directly affect animal health. Exposing shrimp and fish to inappropriate levels of dissolved oxygen, ammonia, nitrite or hydrogen sulfide can lead to stress and diseases.

In the complex and dynamic environment of aquaculture ponds, water quality parameters also influence each other. Thus, maintaining balanced levels of water quality parameters is fundamental to both the health and growth of cultured organisms. The positive microbial action behind this probiotic mixture includes the inhibition of pathogenic bacteria, the elimination of toxic materials such as ammonia, nitrite and hydrogen sulfide, and the degradation of unconsumed feed.

Instead of leaving these beneficial microbial actions to spontaneous, bacterial primary colonization of the rearing water, the water is pre-emptively colonized by adding beneficial bacteria that are well adapted to prevailing environmental conditions.

The mixture of enzymes present in Aquastar® PondZyme further degrades organic matter in the pond, complementing the bioremediation bacteria. Water quality and pond environment are improved as these bacteria strains and enzymes work in harmony with the existing biomass, increasing overall efficiency and hastening the elimination of ammonia and nitrites.
