BIOMIN Recognizes B.R.A.I.N. Award Winner Rudolf Krska at 2016 World Nutrition Forum

BRAIN Award Winner Prof. Dr. Rudolf KrskaThe award selection committee cited his ongoing lifetime achievement as a research scientist working in the field of mycotoxin research, and a 20+ year track record working with the BIOMIN Research Center on numerous projects. Since 2013, Dr Krska is the most-cited author of scientific papers on the topic of mycotoxins in the past decade, according to data collected from Thompson Reuters.

He has supervised preeminent research leading to the development of a unique multi-toxin analytical method based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for the detection and quantification of more than 400 fungal and bacterial metabolites –including all regulated mycotoxins– in various cereals, food and feed matrices.

High acclaim

Dr Krska’s achievement and longstanding work with BIOMIN has earned him esteem throughout Erber Group—of which BIOMIN is a part. The appreciation is not limited to scientific endeavors.

BIOMIN Founder and President of the Supervisory Board of Erber Group, Erich Erber, remarked that Dr Krska “is one of the most outstanding scientists I have come across in my life. When we met first time in 1994 to discuss a common project on mycotoxins we could not imagine where we stand today. Without him, Tulln –as the world’s top competence center for mycotoxin research– would not exist as it is today.”

“Dr Krska is a high flier in the field of mycotoxins who is well-recognized for his expertise by his peers,” according to Dr Eva Maria Binder, Chief Research Officer at Erber Group. “He’s a gentle person and has become a friend over the years,” she added.

“What I like most in him is that, despite all the academic accolades, he remains humble and natural in his personality. He likes to joke, play guitar and sing great songs,” rejoined Mr Erber.

On the final day of the scientific conference at the 2016 World Nutrition Forum, Dr Binder and Dr Gerd Schatzmayr, Research Director at BIOMIN Research Center, presented Dr Krska with the B.R.A.I.N. award and a check for $10,000.

About the World Nutrition Forum

The 2016 World Nutrition Forum offers top industry professionals the opportunity to ‘look under the hood’ to explore the factors driving the protein economy, its trajectory and future. Species-specific breakout sessions provide a platform to delve further into topics concerning poultry, swine, ruminants, and aquaculture production. A top-class mycotoxin expert session addresses key research findings and the application of the latest technologies in mycotoxin deactivation, along with a second expert session on gut and rumen health and performance.

First held in Salzburg in 2004, the World Nutrition Forum hosted by BIOMIN has become the leading opportunity for industry practitioners to share ideas and exchange knowledge. These biennial summits are consistently well rated by attendees. Each iteration draws upon the uniqueness of the location, speakers and participants while maintaining the highest quality standards for both content and organization.
