Mycotoxins

Despite being a worldwide problem, clinical mycotoxicosis is not a common occurrence in the field. However subclinical mycotoxicosis can affect poultry in many ways, ranging from immunosuppression leading to decreased vaccine efficacy, to fatty liver, buccal, comb and wattle necrosis. Other effects include increased intestinal disruption due to physical damage to the intestinal epithelium, poor feather production and uneven growth. Fertility and hatchability in breeding stocks can also be affected by different mycotoxins. All of this results in economic losses to the producer.
